Low Stock, No Stress: What to do if you run out of Oral Nutrition Supplements, Enteral Feed or Equipment

We know that it is stressful to run out of nutrition supplies. It can happen without realising, and through no fault of your own due to delays in funding approval, payment, or supply shortages that weren’t communicated.
When this happens, please don’t contact your local hospital as they are unable to provide stock for outpatients. There are several community-based solutions available which we have listed below.
1. Contact our team to check what we have available in the office
Many of our families kindly donate unused feed and equipment if they have a change in their health or their nutrition plan. If we have the product that is right for you, we can organise for you to pick it up from Reception between 9am – 5pm at your closest clinic. This will be 415 Magill Rd St Morris or 135 Daws Rd St Marys.
Sometimes we might also be able to drop it off if one of our team members is doing home visits in your area.
2. Contact Atlas McNeil or Trugrade Medical Supplies
These companies are local to Adelaide with a warehouse and shopfront. They stock most nutrition products and can offer next day delivery if the required product is in stock and you are able to make a credit card payment over the phone. They can provide a Tax Invoice or Receipt that will then enable you to claim this back if required from your funding body.
3. Purchase a powdered supplement from your local chemist or supermarket
For Adults: Sustagen, Ensure or AdVital

For Children: Sustagen Kids or Pediasure

These supplements can be made up with water or milk and are safe for most people to drink orally or administer via a feeding tube. If you are unsure, please check with your Dietitian.
